Lee Chapel's Marvellous Mascots
Weeks ago, Lee Chapel hosted a presentation from West Ham United Women who awarded the girls football squad with mascot tickets to a Conti Cup match against Birmingham City Women. After weeks of excitement, the girls finally got to attend the match.
They arrived at the Chigwell Construction Stadium, home of West Ham United Women, proudly wearing their Lee Chapel rain jackets. Upon entering the stadium, they were greeted by West Ham staff who directed the girls and their families to their seats and prepared them for the occasion.
Half of the girls were given the role of player mascots whilst the others were given flags to wave as the players entered the pitch. Both groups thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being centre stage as 'Forever Blowing Bubbles' echoed around the stadium.
Then, once the game had started, they all got the chance to be on the pitch as ball assistants - getting a close-up view of the match. After an excellent game, which saw West Ham progress to the next round with a 2-0 win, the players gladly signed the girls' programmes with goal scorer Kate Longhurst keeping them warm by doing star jumps. An amazing day with lots of moments the girls will treasure forever!
